As A Child But What About Now?
Many (most?) people these days grew up receiving some form of religious expression. Often, it was your parent's belief and probably their parents before them! In a lot of cases, it's a mother simply wanting a place for you to learn good behavior. It's surprising, though, that if you talk to people, there's quite detailed memories of their days in church. Personalities of their priests or teachers. Quite often a bit of boredom!

But as each grew up and went into the bigger world, some held onto their younger beliefs, but more simply 'moved on'. What about you? Even if you held onto your childhood beliefs, are your beliefs today mainly a continuation (an identity?) or a more deeply held decision?

The problem with many childhood beliefs is that they often are not deeply held as actual beliefs. Sometimes, nostalgia. Nice memories of your parents or friends. A comfortable place. A better time? Unfortunately, though, at some point (some quite early!), your mind develops 'doubts'. You want to put your finger on 'why church?'. You especially want to do this, if the members or pastor are a bit hypocritical!

And at this point, you may run into the obvious! Was it your belief or someone elses (like your parents)?! If it wasn't your belief and decision, it's likely you won't continue without .... someone else nudging you ... again!

Here's a thought for you. Whether you 'grew up' in the church or not .... or didn't even attend church(!), where you are now is really what matters, isn't it? Why do you believe what you believe? And does it achieve what you wish it to achieve?

What is interesting about the Christian religion, is that too many people forget what was offered 2,000 years ago: it was meant to solve their problem then ... and your problem now. Like anything else in your life, what was discussed by Jesus long ago must still solve problems that you have today.

Soooo .... how about looking a little more into 'churches'?

'Why' do churches do what they do? (ever think about that?!)
Jesus: "I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven."

(Mat 18:3 NLT)
Jesus: "To what can I compare this generation? It is like children playing a game in the public square. They complain to their friends, 'We played wedding songs, and you didn't dance, so we played funeral songs and you didn't mourn."

(Mat 11:16-17 NLT)
