PICTURE 1 - Approach from Parking Area. The park is flat, with lengthy concrete sidewalks for relaxed strolling. Benches are great for just viewing the scenery and chatting with a loved one. Most folks 'head for the Rock' but the stroll near the cliffs is especially nice!
PICTURE 2 - The Old Crescent Moon Ranch. Originally this area was a ranch with several different names over time. It has several 'ditches' which brought water from the creek for irrigation (still here). Also viewable is an old water wheel for further lifting the water up to the ranch house area.
PICTURE 3 - Oak Creek. This creek captures many springs in the canyon north of Sedona and gives the area the special riperian feel. The picture here is just north of what is called 'Red Rock Crossing' where the classic Cathedral Rock pictures are taken.
PICTURE 4 - Ranching Pasture. This picture gives you a feel for what the area looked like back in the 40's, when there was not a lot of development. Ride your horse for miles and miles!
PICTURE 5 - Spirit Rocks. Around Sedona, the spirit rock people do get around! Here, in a quiet glade, hundreds of rocks create a small village in the shadows. But the little rock piles fall over, and so more spirit rock people come.
PICTURE 6 - Cathedral Rock along the Creek This area of the creek is nice for wading and enjoying nature. Here, it's on the far-right and not quite visible. If you're a painter, you'll spend many hours here.
PICTURE 7 - Cathedral Rock along the Creek II Most of the time, the creek is a quiet brook. But during spring melt, it can turn into a major power, sweeping away all in its path. Here, some red rocks defy the creek!
