Bell Rock is located just north of the Village of Oak Creek. In addition to the great views, the trails are generally flat for easy hiking and (pretty) easy biking! Hike as far as you're willing! The trails inter-connect, reaching deep into the wilderness.
PICTURE 1 - Approach from Parking Area. There's two entrances, with the main one on the south. The northern one directly on SH179 is shorter but difficult to park. We start our hike here looking across washed out hills toward Bell Rock. Bell Rock

PICTURE 2 - Looking Up Pine Valley The trails are well maintained, here looking north east into Pine Valley. The cliffs in the far-distance are periodically climbed straight-up! A nice biking trail leads northwest along these cliffs, and up on top is wilderness. Bell Rock

PICTURE 3 - Bell Rock. Here, we have a closer view of Bell Rock. The vertical breaks in the rock run toward the northwest from geological faulting. If you look at it from the air, it looks like someone sliced the rock three times! This side of Bell Rock tends to be dryer than the other side. Bell Rock

PICTURE 4 - Bell Rock Closeup The trail comes close up to Bell Rock on the south side, where you can examine the structure more easily. Note the 'tower' in the upper-center of the picture. Bell Rock

PICTURE 5 - Bell Rock North Here we're on the opposite side of Bell Rock, beginning our climb up onto the 'slick rock'. The little pointy rock in the center is NOT to be our destination today! But, come back during a rain storm, as sheets of water pour down through this mini-canyon. Then, try climbing! Bell Rock

PICTURE 6 - A Quiet Rest There's certainly plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. Here, a nice view of Courthouse Rock in the warm winter sun. It's a good place to wait, if your hiking partner wants to make the 'loop'. Bell Rock

PICTURE 7 - Cathedral Rock in the Distance As you hike around Courthouse Rock, you'll catch far-views of Cathedral Rock hidden among the trees. The plant ecology is also interesting, following careful 'nature rules'! Bell Rock

PICTURE 8 - Chicken Point As we turn back toward the north parking area, a gaze over to 'Chicken Point' draws our gaze. Pink Jeeps drive up there from the far side of Twin Buttes to the left. If you brought your zoom cammera, you can periodically see the little pink dots. How exciting! Bell Rock
