Wailing Wind (2002) is the sort of mystery, where you kind of know the ending, but it's only the last few pages that the 'real' ending shows up! You really wonder how Hillerman dreamed up the story line, but it's certainly worth a stop at Ft Wingate if you're on I-40 in western New Mexico. Obviously the story is fictional, but if you also stop at St Boneventure school in Thoreau and imagine Linda Denton growing up ... and her ending. Well ...
