Dark Wind (1982) really stretches your ability to put together the clues. Even the location is difficult to tie down, as you follow the story. But Hillerman seems to stick to the geography, and thus you should be able to track Chee, if you can afford the gasoline bill. The flight path of the plane is also interesting, requiring an intimate knowledge of the mesas in the area.
