BOOKS PLACED GEOGRAPHICALLY When Hillerman began writing the Chee/Leaphorn mystery series, it's not clear how he picked where to site them. His first two (Blessingway and Dancehall) seem to have begun in articles that he wrote while a newpapter editor (Hillerman's 'Great Taos Bank Robbery' book). But after that, you'd probably have had to ask him (now deceased). Below is a map showing the general locations of each of books. Overall, he seems to have been 'covering the bases'. He sometimes overlapped some of the locations, but rarely back-referenced it to a previous mystery. In our opinion (!), he had one more mystery in mind, maybe at Leupp Arizona or further east near Delkon. That's the only major area not covered. Maybe include the Little Colorado Falls, or the intermittant springs north of Holbrook? And then there's Leaphorn and Professor Bourebonette. Leaphorn does still miss Emma. But still .... ??
