UPTOWN!

The old part of Sedona that locals call 'Uptown' doesn't have a lot of traditional galleries, but it's still worth a visit, especially for decorative items and ideas.

There 'usually' is plenty of parking ... just not on hwy 89A. Look for the green-on-white parking signs that point you to the lots. If you didn't select the busiest days, usually the side toward the creek is the most convenient.

If you want to ride the Sedona Roadrunner bus, the uptown pickup is at the 'upper' parking lot WELL behind the Matterhorn Motel that faces hwy 89A.

SEDONA ART CENTER (MAP)
A great place to start your gallery tour! It's right on hwy 89A just before you exit Sedona for Oak Creek Canyon. Parking is down below. Outside there's some nice sculptures and a relaxing place to view the red rocks; sit down and breath in the air. Slow down! Inside there's even more art, as well as a small gift shop. Right below the Center is the 'Art Barn' ... the big wooden building. This is pretty much where Sedona art really got motivated. In the old days, it was a fruit packing barn ... now artists use it. HYATT PINON POINTE (MAP)
This is right down from 'Uptown', just above the 'Y' intersection of hwy 89A and SH179. Easiest entry is straight up from SH179 (post office is right next door if needed!). Parking near the stores and galleries is almost always an issue ... parking further towards uptown is an easier proposition.

'Fort Hyatt', as locals lovingly call it, is especially popular with locals due to the restaurants here. Good food, affordable for lunch, and unbelievable view.

In Sedona's earlier days, as you walk around the stores, you would have been attending church! This was where Sedona's first church was located ... First Assembly of God. If you're history-oriented, there's many plaques here about Sedona's history! Plus, on the corner towards uptown is the (official) Sedona Visitor Center.

Glicee' Plus Not quite a gallery, but beautiful prints. If you're not an art person (smile!), glicee is essentially an extremely high-resolution color-dot printing process, where the colors almost pop out! MORE INFO
Villa Gallery Accents This is primarily home decor items, but oh so beautiful. Worth a look.
